BRORHUCO LLC MISSION STATEMENT: Timeless Craftsmanship, Modern Elegance. Our mission is to craft timeless, high quality leather merchandise that seamlessly blends artistry, durability and functionality. Through meticulous hand crafting and the use of earth aware materials, we create one of a kind treasures to inspire confidence and elevate everyday experiences. We are committed to honoring traditional craftsmanship while embracing modern excellence, offering our clients merchandise which tell a story and stand the test of time. Even before I launched my brand, I was and still am actively upgrading my materials to those with a shorter decomposition rate (see chart below). For example, I have switched my liners from typical liner material made from polyester, to silk (I offer a mix of silk or satin until my current satin aka petroleum based liner stock is depleted, at which point, all liners will be silk). I use water-based dyes & paints which don't contain harsh, fuming chemicals. Mink oil, natural coating formula & beeswax are used for finishing. I have also started replacing my polyester thread stock with nylon thread. The construction and materials with which my products are made, will last for years longer than those mass produced with cheaper, inferior, petroleum based materials. As an added bonus, my items will biodegrade within approximately 50 years or less after being composted at the end of the product's life. Compare that to 200-500 years for petroleum based products! |
BRORHUCO started with an idea that quality items, made with naturally grown and long lasting materials will change the world. Ponder this: We all vote with our money. We're all guilty of buying that cheap and plastic item, made in China, because we want it now! We want it cheap! But what is the long term cost? Child labor? Overfilled dumpsites? Over-mined resources? Pollution? Transferring American jobs over sea? The need to buy the same item every few years because "nothing" is built to last?
